Russell Westbrook is still available in NBA free agency. As the market has slowed down, there have still been some teams who have been pursuing the longtime star point guard.
One of those teams is none other than the Sacramento Kings.
From the very beginning of free agency, the Kings have been the team most connected to Westbrook. However, in recent days, those rumors have cooled off.
Now, a new report has shared that Sacramento is still very much involved when it comes to the 36-year-old guard.
According to Dave Carmichael of SactownSports.com, there is a very good chance that Westbrook ends up signing with the Kings.
“It’s not done, but it’s been cooking for a while,” Carmichael said. “And there is strong interest from both sides. I’d say 80-20 he’s a King.”
Last season with the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook played a very big role off the bench. He did start some games as well.
He played in 75 games and started in 36 of those appearances. Westbrook averaged 13.3 points per game to go along with 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals. In addition, he shot 44.9 percent from the floor and 32.3 percent from three-point range.
It will be interesting to see if Sacramento is able to lock in a deal with Westbrook. He would be the team’s second guard addition this offseason, with the Kings also getting a deal done with Dennis Schroder.
Expect to hear more about Westbrook in the near future. For now, Sacramento is a good bet to be his final landing spot.
