The Golden State Warriors have been widely expected to be the final landing spot for veteran free agent center Al Horford this offseason. Multiple reports have suggested that the two sides have a verbal agreement in place to join forces for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Horford has been happy to wait patiently in free agency. Plenty of other teams, who were viewed as possible contenders to sign Horford, have signed other options and moved on from him. As for the Warriors, they remain in wait mode as they deal with their restricted free agency situation with Jonathan Kuminga.
That being said, fans are growing a bit impatient. Golden State badly needs help at the center position and Horford is the one player available who could make a major impact on pursuing a championship.
Keeping that in mind, a new update has been provided on the situation between the Warriors and Horford.
Where Do Things Stand Between the Warriors and Al Horford?

ESPN’s Anthony Slater provided a small update about where things stand between the two sides.
“But Horford is comfortable waiting. Retirement remains on the table, sources said, though the Warriors appear to be operating as if he is a firm part of their plan next season,” Slater wrote.
Basically, the situation is still the same. Horford remains a free agent, but Golden State is giving off signals that it already knows he will be signing with the team.
Last year with the Boston Celtics, Horford had a solid all-around impact once again. He played in 60 games ande made 42 starts, averaging nine points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 0.9 blocks per game. Horford also shot 42.3 percent from the floor and 36.3 percent from three-point distance.
More than likely, this deal will get over the finish line in the near future. Horford seems almost a lock to be playing for the Warriors when the 2025-26 NBA season arrives.
Hopefully, there will be some movement with Kuminga that will allow Golden State to finish out its offseason. For now, fans will just have to remain patient, but with a renewed confidence that Horford will be signing with the Warriors when the timing is right and other situations are figured out.
