The Milwaukee Bucks have had a busy NBA offseason so far. In addition to being busy, the Bucks also made the most shocking move of the entire NBA free agency period.

As they look to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo with a roster that can compete for a championship, the team decided to get aggressive. They were able to sign former Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner to a lucrative four-year, $108 million contract.

In order to make financial room for that move, Milwaukee waived and stretched superstar point guard Damian Lillard. Of course, Lillard is currently recovering from the torn Achilles that he suffered in the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Pacers.

To say that the move was a shock to the NBA would be an understatement. Turner was widely expected to return to Indiana, who had just made a run to the NBA Finals and taken the Oklahoma City Thunder to Game 7.

Outside of the Turner move, the Bucks have made quite a few other roster additions. They were able to keep some players in town, such as Kevin Porter Jr., Bobby Portis, Taurean Prince, Gary Trent Jr., and Ryan Rollins. As for outside additions, Milwaukee has brought in Turner, Cole Anthony, and Gary Harris.

While free agency has slowed down, there are still some intriguing players available. The Bucks have now been linked to another big move. This time, it would involve signing restricted free agent Cam Thomas.

Sam Quinn of CBS Sports has named Milwaukee as the best possible fit for Thomas.

“The Bucks would have to trade Kyle Kuzma to match money on a potential contract. The Nets wouldn’t want to take him back. Perhaps Milwaukee could grease the wheels with an unprotected first-round swap in 2032?” Quinn wrote. “That would leave their 2031 first-rounder available for another trade now and ensure that their 2033 first-round pick would be tradable next offseason as well, and as the Nets have two first-round picks in 2032, they could arrange the swap so that it applies to either of their picks. That’s a steep price to pay on Milwaukee’s end, but if they believe Thomas can be the high-level scorer they need to convince Antetokounmpo to stay put long-term, they might be willing to pay it.”

Thomas played in 25 games and made 23 starts last season with the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged 24 points per game to go along with 3.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from three-point range.

Back in the 2023-24 NBA season, Thomas averaged 22.5 points and shot 44.2 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from three-point distance.

If the Bucks were able to swing a move for Thomas, they would instantly become a much more dangerous offensive team. This may not even end up being an option for Milwaukee, but it’s an intriguing fit to think about.
